Spring is almost here, which can only mean one thing: the Georgia Bulldogs are set to host a club tennis tournament right on their home campus. Every February, the Southeast’s best tennis clubs descend upon the Classic City for a weekend of fiery mixed doubles, greasy pizza, and the largest collection of tennis players the Athens bar scene will see all year.

The tradition began with the Dawgs keeping the trophy home in 2017 when Emily Shull, the tournament’s namesake, was president of UGA’s Tennis Club. Georgia enters into this year’s competition in top form, taking top prize in its last 4 competitions, including a National Championship at the TOC Fall Invitational in Cary, NC. The Dawgs won’t reign won’t go unchallenged, however. Other top challengers for the top spot include North Carolina schools UNC and NC State, and in-state rival Georgia Tech.
